Website development · Anonymized example

A retail website the merchandising team can publish to.

The public site had fallen behind the catalog. Product updates waited on a developer, and the pages were difficult to use on a phone. The engagement rebuilt the website around the way the team actually sells.

Situation

Campaigns and product stories lived in email threads. The website could not keep up, and shoppers on a phone got a squeezed version of the desktop page.

Approach

I mapped the pages a shopper needs, separated campaign content from the catalog, and designed a responsive layout before the build. Search titles and headings were written with the pages, not added at the end.

What shipped

A responsive marketing and catalog website, an editing model the team can follow, and a handover that shows how to publish a product, a story, and a landing page.

Outcome

The team can update the site on its own schedule. Shoppers get the same structure on a phone as on a desktop, and the pages explain the offer without a developer in the loop.
